Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass, sharing Sacred Scripture with the congregation. This ministry requires a deep respect for Sacred Scripture and a willingness to prepare adequately so the Word of God is proclaimed with clarity and reverence. Spending time with the scripture and seeking to understand its meaning has a profound effect on the way it is shared with and received by others. Fully initiated Catholics in the 7th grade or older who are in full communion with the Church are welcome to be a lector. Training is provided and printed resources are available.
