How do I become Catholic as an Adult?
If you have never been baptized and God has called you to learn more about him, you have come to the right place! The Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ, and Jesus wants you to be in his Church! The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults calls for a time of formation that takes a little over a year from entrance into the Catechumenate to the celebration of the sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist), usually at the Easter Vigil. The usual time for the Entrance into the Catechumenate at Holy Trinity is during Lent (around March).
If you have been baptized in another Christian denomination and are interested in becoming Catholic, you may be received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church when you and the pastor discern you are ready. During Mass, you will make a profession of faith and receive Confirmation and the Eucharist. This may happen at any time during the year.
If you have been baptized Catholic as an infant but are seeking to complete your full initiation by receiving the sacrament of Confirmation (and the Eucharist), this will happen at an appropriate time as discerned by you and the pastor.
Do I need to take a class?
We invite you to our weekly meeting of I Believe every Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Trinity in the Lanore Robb suite of the Parish Center. All are welcome to attend these sessions which focus on prayer, discussion, and learning more about our Catholic Faith. Whether you are baptized or unbaptized, Catholic or non-Catholic, we welcome you at any time to meet and learn more about what Catholics believe. Participation and attendance at these classes will be required at the discretion of the pastor for reception of the Sacraments of Initiation.
When can I start?
