Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are lay men and women that help distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass and to parishioners who are homebound. Extraordinary ministers’ lives should reflect Jesus and they should spend adequate time deepening their own relationship with Him. Distributing the Body and Blood of Christ requires the utmost respect, faith, and reverence, and this should be reflected in the minister’s demeanor, in their attire, and in the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine. Fully initiated adults who are in full communion with the Catholic Church and approved by the pastor may volunteer for this ministry. Training is provided.
